End-to-End Inspection and Maintenance Robotics Take Center Stage at Rio Robotics Fitness Challenge 2026

Mon, December 22, 2025

The Rio Robotic Fitness Challenge 2026 will take place on 15–16 April 2026, bringing together asset owners, technology developers, and service providers to evaluate next-generation robotics for inspection and maintenance (I&M) applications. Designed and led by asset owners, the Challenge focuses on end-to-end robotic solutions covering corrosion monitoring, leak detection, measurement, reporting, and fleet management.

The two-day event will assess robotic systems capable of delivering complete workflows, from remote access and data collection to data intelligence and AI-driven reporting. Solutions will be tested across real-world scenarios involving compressed air, liquid, and gas systems, with a particular emphasis on AI-enabled corrosion and leak detection.

The Challenge aims to create a collaborative environment where participants can benchmark their technologies, exchange insights, and accelerate the practical deployment of robotics in industrial operations. By convening key stakeholders across the value chain, the event seeks to bridge the gap between innovation and real-world application.

Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their technologies across three scenario-based challenges that mirror operational conditions:

  • Challenge 1: Internal Loop (Ground Level)
  • Challenge 2: Launching Station (Elevated Piping)
  • Challenge 3: Walkway Near Tanks (Complex Access)

Robotic systems will be evaluated on their ability to deliver a seamless, end-to-end process encompassing remote access, data acquisition, analytics, and reporting. Companies may also team up, combining complementary technologies and expertise to present integrated solutions.

Beyond live evaluations, participants will benefit from direct engagement with end users, gaining insights into operational pain points and technical requirements. Each team will receive detailed performance feedback, including individual reports, industry judge assessments, and gap analyses to help guide future development.

Importantly, solutions that meet judges’ standards may be invited by asset owners to submit technical-commercial proposals for full-scale field qualification tests, opening the door to potential real-world deployment.

Registration is now open for companies ready to put their robotic solutions to the test and help shape the future of inspection and maintenance robotics. Visitor registration is also open for those who wish to see the robots in action.
