SPRINT Robotics Advances Industry Alignment Through Comprehensive Publication Portfolio

Sun, December 21, 2025

SPRINT Robotics continues to strengthen the global Inspection & Maintenance (I&M) robotics ecosystem through a growing portfolio of industry publications, ranging from technical guidelines and reports to the widely adopted SPRINT Robotics Roadmap, a resource unique to the I&M robotics field and used by a diverse range of stakeholders.

Many of these publications are initiated and developed by SPRINT Robotics Action Groups, drawing on the collective expertise of asset owners, technology providers, service companies, and research organizations. Each publication addresses practical challenges related to the inspection and maintenance of specific asset types, helping bridge the gap between innovation and real-world deployment.

SPRINT Robotics publications play a critical role in:

  • Promoting uniformity in operational procedures
  • Identifying technology improvements that accelerate practical deployment
  • Aligning the industry around shared goals and priorities
  • Enabling innovators and researchers to contribute in a structured way
  • Informing policymakers about the evolving I&M robotics landscape
  • Supporting end users in adapting operational procedures for new technologies

All publications are available free of charge to SPRINT Robotics participating companies via the SPRINT Robotics Community Portal (SR Community).

Robotic Field Worker Solution: Operational Deployment Best Practices and Processes

Over the past 10–15 years, robotic solutions for remote and offshore Oil & Gas sites have largely been developed as stand-alone systems, with deployments often occurring on an ad hoc basis. As the industry matures, SPRINT Robotics recognizes that the time is right for the adoption of a scalable Robot as a Service (RaaS) model.

This Best Practices document provides guidance for Oil & Gas companies on how to introduce robotic field worker solutions into remote operations and integrate them with existing IT systems and operational procedures. It covers a wide range of practical considerations, including: Design Reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests; Communication and Navigation; Inspection Execution and Data Interpretation; and Operational, Digital, and Ethical Integration.

The publication also serves as a valuable reference for developers and service providers, offering insight into end-user requirements and expectations. Designed as a living document, the guidelines will continue to evolve as industry experience grows.

SPRINT Robotics TRL9 Catalogue – Volume 1

The SPRINT Robotics TRL9 Catalogue provides asset owners with a curated overview of proven, deployable I&M robotic solutions that have achieved Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL9), the highest level of technological maturity. Designed to support immediate implementation, the TRL9 Catalogue enables asset owners to confidently adopt robotics that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and innovation.

Development of the first volume began with the identification of more than 100 potential TRL9 solutions. Following a verification process, 50 confirmed TRL9 technologies were selected and compiled into this inaugural edition.

The catalogue classifies robotic platforms into four main categories:

  • Inspection
  • Cleaning
  • Fabric Maintenance
  • General (other applications)

Be part of the industry’s go-to resource for deployable I&M robotics technologies! SPRINT Robotics is now preparing the next edition of the TRL9 Catalogue. Submit your site-ready robots and drones today to be featured.
