By 2002 SENAI CIMATEC is created as an non-profit institution that will assist, through the training of labor and technical support, the new industrialization process in Bahia.

Senai has a structure of 35.000 m² of built area, 35 classrooms, 56 laboratories, also has 42 research sectors including, Robotics, Polymers, Metals, Automotive, Precision Mechanics, Hyper Computing, Eletronics, Small business incubator, in addition to the first 4.0 factory model in the Southern Hemisphere.

Over the years SENAI has partnered with many institutions around the world, such as, Aeronautics Institue of Technolgy (AIT), DFKI (German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence), thereby gaining recognition on the national scene.

Currently SENAI CIMATEC has degrees for 9 engineering and architecture, 12 postgraduate, 8 MBA courses in addition to traditional technical courses.

In november 2019 SENAI Opened CIMATEC PARK: CIMATEC Park is an extension of the CIMATEC Campus with a focus on Research, Development & Innovation, with a robust infrastructure to support the entire process of technological development and industrial innovation. With total area of 4.000.000m² and a first phase covering an area of 350.000m², CIMATEC PARK accommodates acoustics laboratories, Wind tunnel, Prototype of houses with sustainable technology, research center for partner companies.
